Malachi Shabaiash (Clay County Jail)
MOORHEAD (KFGO) – The Clay County Attorney’s Office has charged a Moorhead man with attempted murder following a shooting that prompted a shelter in place for people living near the Concordia College campus early last Friday morning.
In the criminal complaint, police say Malachi Shabaiash, 28, fired several shots at his roommate, who was in a car outside their house in the 1100 block of 3rd Street S.
When officers arrived after earlier investigating reports of gunshots in the neighborhood, Shabaiash was inside the house and a rifle was near the front of the home. They convinced him to come out of the home. He went back inside before he left through a door on the side of the house. He was tracked down with the help of a police dog.
Shabaiash was taken to a Fargo hospital before he was transported to the Clay County Jail.
A later search of the home led to the recovery of three handguns and a semi-automatic rifle.
