FARGO (KFGO) – Fargo police say a black bear has been spotted in north Fargo.
People are asked to use caution in the area from 19th Avenue N. to 40th Avenue N. from the river to Broadway. Officers were monitoring the bear and working with North Dakota Game and Fish and the Red River Zoo. They have since left the area.
“After consulting with a wildlife biologist from North Dakota Game and Fish, the FPD is clearing the scene and urging residents to continue to stay away from the area and give the bear space to move through town and leave on its own,” Neighborhood Services Lt. Shane Aberle said. “For everyone’s safety, including the bear, we want to emphasize: Do not attempt to locate or approach the animal. Fewer people in the area helps reduce stress on the bear and supports a safer outcome for both the community and the animal.”
Police are asking people to keep children and small pets indoors, do not approach the bear, and avoid the area if possible.
