GARDNER, N.D. (KFGO) – A Gardner, North Dakota man is charged after allegedly kidnapping a young girl and sexually assaulting her.
Kaleb Chase, 34, is charged with four counts of gross sexual imposition, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and two counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
A detective was called just before 5 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31 to assist Cass County deputies at a home in Gardner after a 13-year-old girl called 911 reporting that she had been kidnapped and raped.
The girl told deputies that she was staying at a hotel in Fargo, saw Chase outside, and assumed he was locked out of the building. She told deputies that she didn’t know Chase.
When she opened the door, the girl says Chase grabbed her arm, took her to his vehicle, and drove her to a home in Gardner.
“The juvenile said she was scared and didn’t know what to do,” court records state.
The girl says Chase took off all her clothes and “did inappropriate things” to her. She told investigators that she told Chase to stop and tried to get off the bed, but he wouldn’t let her go.
Investigators reviewed security camera footage from the hotel and say the video did not show Chase grabbing the juvenile by the arm as she reported. They say Chase was already in the driver’s seat of the vehicle when the girl got into the passenger seat.
In an interview with deputies, Chase said he chatted with the girl on Meet Me, which is a location-based networking and dating app, and he believed she was 21-years-old.
A search warrant was executed at the home in Gardner, where authorities located meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Chase was arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail.
