DGF Public Schools
DILWORTH, Minn. (KFGO-KVRR) — A graduate of Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton High School has started a fundraiser to help save the school’s debate team.
Michaila Hicks graduated from DGF in 2017 and was on the debate team.
She has started a GoFundMe to help pay for the school’s team after its budget was cut. The school says the debate team can continue if they raise enough money to pay for it.
The money raised will go to travel expenses, tournament fees, and coaches.
Hick says the debate team keeps students involved and helps develop important life skills.
“The more and more that these programs are cut, the less and less opportunities there are for students who are not interested in sports or students who aren’t able to participate in sports,” Hicks said. “So the more and more that these go away, the less there is for these students to do, and stay involved, and learn skills.”
Hicks says DGF has also made cuts to its pep band and choir groups, and no longer offer foreign language courses.
