Cesar Chavez (CBS News)
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO Learfield) – Cesar Chavez Day in Minnesota will be eliminated by law before the March 31 commemoration.
The bill passed the Senate unanimously Thursday after passing the House unanimously Monday. It now goes to the desk of Governor Tim Walz, who has already said he would sign it into law.
The bill was fast-tracked after recent allegations of sexual abuse of women and girls during the time Chavez led the United Farm Workers. St. Paul is also working to remove his name from a street sign and a middle school, Academia Cesar Chavez.
