MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO) – Minneapolis is making a bid to host the 2028 NFL Draft.
The bid was submitted to the NFL just a couple of weeks ago, according to Minnesota Sports and Events CEO Wendy Williams-Blackshaw.
“It’s very competitive, NFL draft is one of the most competitive bid events out there,” Williams-Blackshaw explains.
U.S. Bank Stadium would serve as the draft’s backdrop, but there are some challenges.
“Most sports commissions have that public funding and we do not, so we are having to raise the money from a private-corporate standpoint, which is what we did for the Super Bowl and that does make it a little more difficult,” said Williams-Blackshaw.
A decision could come in May, but the timing is ultimately up to the NFL.
The 2026 draft will be held in Pittsburgh from April 23-25. The 2027 NFL draft will be in Washington, D.C.
