Former Cass County Deputy Carson Quam
FARGO (KFGO) – A former Cass County sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to having child pornography.
Carson Quam was charged in December of 2024 after an investigation by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation. He faced 10 counts. As part of a plea agreement, five counts were dismissed.
Southeast District Court Judge Daniel Narum handled the case after state district court judges in Fargo recused themselves. The Grand Forks County State’s Attorney’s office prosecuted Quam.
Quam, now of McHenry, North Dakota, will be on three years of probation once he’s released and be required to register as a sex offender. Quam was accused of having child porn on his phone showing adults having sex with children believed to be between the ages of 2 and 14. He worked in the patrol division.
Sheriff Jesse Jahner placed Quam on administrative leave when he learned of the criminal investigation. He later resigned.
