Police respond to shots fired call in Appleton (Courtney Christoperson)
APPLETON, Minn. (KFGO) – The Swift County Sheriff’s office in west-central Minnesota says two suspects have been arrested and there’s no threat to the public after county deputies, Appleton police, SWAT, deputies from neighboring counties and other law enforcement responded to a call of shots fired Friday morning.
The public had been told to avoid the scene in the city of about 1,400 people, 140 miles south of Fargo Moorhead.
Initial reports said deputies went to a wooded area near railroad tracks in the south-central part of town.
Businesses were placed on alert, schools were put in lockdown and the civic center and other city buildings were closed.
