ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota House tax committee is considering a Democrat-authored bill that would expand property tax relief to Minnesotans who see their property taxes rise by 6%, down from the current 12% threshold.
Supporters say the change would provide direct relief to homeowners without shifting the tax burden. Republicans argue rising property taxes are driven by state mandates, while Democrats point to a lack of housing supply as a core issue.
The bill was laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus package.
