Rep. Zac Ista (D-Grand Forks)
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – North Dakota House Minority Leader Zac Ista of Grand Forks says he will not seek re-election in the fall.
Ista, a Democrat, has served in the House since 2020 when he was appointed to fill out Representative Matt Eidson’s term. He was elected in 2022.
“Serving Grand Forks in the North Dakota House of Representatives is a great honor. The work is important and rewarding. It also demands substantial time away from my family, which is an especially difficult sacrifice while my children are young. That is why I have decided not to seek re-election in 2026. I am deeply grateful to my constituents, and I look forward to serving District 43 through the end of my term,” Ista said in a statement.
The state Democratic party convention begins Friday in Bismarck.
