ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has released the names of the people involved in an officer-involved shooting in the Twin Cities earlier this week.
The BCA says Brooklyn Center Police officers responded to a report of a man waving a gun in a parking lot on Monday afternoon. When they arrived, 23-year-old Eddie Duncan fired shots at the officers, striking one of their squad vehicles.
Officers Christian Lausen, Francisco Martinez, and Wahid Gul all returned fire, striking Duncan.
The BCA says Duncan ran a short distance before falling. Duncan died later at a hospital.
Earlier in the day, police say Duncan shot and killed two of his cousins in north Minneapolis. That happened the day after Duncan was released from jail where he was being held on charges of possessing a machine gun and fleeing officers during a traffic stop in Robbinsdale.
