Former Cass County Correctional Deputy Andrew Robinson.
FARGO (KFGO) – A former Cass County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Deputy has pleaded guilty to assaulting an inmate at the Cass County Jail.
Andrew Robinson was initially placed on administrative leave, but later fired after an investigation by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and an internal investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
Robinson was charged with simple assault after an inmate reported being slapped in July 2025.
This week, Robinson changed his plea to guilty and was sentenced to 40 hours of community service. He will be on one year of unsupervised probation.
If he successfully completes probation, the misdemeanor charge could be cleared from his record.
When Robinson was fired in August of 2025, Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner said that not only were Robinson’s actions criminal in nature, they did not follow the mission, vision, values, training or policy and procedures of his department.
