Orton Andrews
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – A crash in Grand Forks on February 1 caused damage to an intersection, a vehicle, and landed the driver in jail.
The Grand Forks Police Department says just after midnight, Orton Andrews was driving a pickup eastbound on Gateway Drive when he hit a traffic signal pole at the intersection of Gateway and North Columbia Road.
Police say the pole fell onto a car on Gateway Drive. The driver of the car was taken to Altru with non-life-threatening injuries.
Andrews was arrested and faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence.
The crash also knocked out that signal pole, which means eastbound traffic signals are inoperable until the pole can be replaced. Temporary stop signs will be used to control traffic at the intersection.
All three other signals there will be flashing red until the repairs are completed.
The Grand Forks Police Department asks the public to pay attention and use caution when navigating this intersection.
