GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – The Grand Forks Police Department says a man was taken to the Altru emergency room around midnight on Sunday, Jan. 25 for severe lacerations to his head and arm.
The victim told officers that he was assaulted with a weapon by a random man in a residential area south of the hospital.
Police say the vehicle that brought the man to the hospital is said to have been a passerby, but that person’s identity is unknown.
Officers investigated several possible locations provided by the victim, but no evidence of an assault has been located.
Police say it is unknown where the assault took place, or if it even happened within the city of Grand Forks.
“We have been unable to corroborate the victim’s statement. No evidence has been obtained to suggest a threat to the public, but people are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and watch for any suspicious persons or circumstances,” Grand Forks Police said.
The victim has been treated and released for his injuries.
