FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO KBRF) – An electrical problem was the cause of a house fire Sunday afternoon in Fergus Falls.
The fire was reported by a neighbor who saw smoke coming from the attic. Due to the cold, mutual aid was requested from the Elizabeth Fire Department.
The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire. The blaze was out within about 10 minutes.
An investigation linked the fire to wiring from the attic to an outlet that overheated. Most of the fire damage was confined to where the fire originated, but there was smoke damage throughout the house.
Damage is estimated at about $80,000. Ringdahl Ambulance Service and Otter Tail Power Company also responded.
