Reconstruction of 13th Avenue from Sheyenne Street to 9th Street East in West Fargo, ND.
WEST FARGO (KFGO) – The City of West Fargo is planning a $30 million reconstruction project on part of 13th Avenue South.
The City Commission is getting a look at the proposal at its meeting on Jan. 19 as city engineers submit a Surface Transportation Block Grant application for partial funding.
The plan is to reconstruct the existing roadway and replace the storm sewer system between Sheyenne Street and 9th Street East. The project will also add a pedestrian underpass connecting two multi-use paths.
City engineers say 13th Avenue was overlaid with asphalt in 2023 as a temporary fix and the concrete under asphalt is in poor condition and needs replacement.
The project will also correct storm sewer deficiencies which have accelerated pavement failure and made that area of 13th Avenue prone to flooding. The city says the addition of an underpass will increase safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
The estimated cost of the project is $30,490,709; however, it will not increase capacity across the corridor. The purpose is to improve existing pavement conditions.
Construction on the project is scheduled to start in 2030.
