NEW YORK MILLS, Minn. (KFGO) – The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of a child and grandmother involved in a deadly dog attack.
Deputies say three-year-old Beckett Brown died after being mauled by a dog at a home west of New York Mills.
The boy was severely injured Sunday afternoon when he entered an outside enclosure where the dog was kept.
The toddler’s 51-year-old grandmother, Kristen Nelson, suffered serious injuries when she tried to stop the attack. She called 911 as she was driving to the Perham Health emergency room.
The three-year-old died at the hospital. Nelson was transferred to a Fargo hospital to be treated for her injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office says the dog is an adult American Bulldog. Officials say the dog is family-owned and was destroyed by the family.
