Chad Alan Nein, 54, of West Fargo, North Dakota, passed away on November 26, 2025. He was born on December 22, 1970, to Richard Nein and Kathy (Nein) McDonald.
Chad grew up with a strong work ethic, a big heart, and a deep love for the people around him—qualities well-instilled by his loving ma, Kathy, and dad, Ed. He carried warmth, a witty sense of humor, and generosity everywhere he went, and his presence brought smiles, laughter, and comfort to family and friends alike. Those who knew him will remember his dry quick wit, kindness, devotion to his wife and children, creative mind, and unwavering work ethic.
Chad found the greatest joy in spending time with his boys, his wife, and his dogs—doing the simple things that meant the most: fire pits, boating, camping, and watching movies together. He was an enthusiastic collector of jerseys, sports cards, sports memorabilia, cigars, wine, and spirits. He was also famously quick with a Rubik’s Cube, proudly solving one in under twenty seconds any chance he got.
As a youth, Chad loved BMX biking and performing tricks, a passion he later shared with his boys as he built ramps and half pipes for them to enjoy. His creativity and craftsmanship could be seen in the many projects he poured himself into—playsets, a horse shed, garden supports, and countless other creations over the years.
Chad had a gift for photography and for capturing moments. He was incredibly artistic and meticulous in designing photos, videos, and visual layouts. His passions also included sound systems, music, and cars. Purposeful, gentle-hearted, and humble, Chad was simple in the best of ways—and beautifully deep to those who loved him most.
Chad is survived by his wife of 30 years, Robin, and their children: Jade Nein (30), Taylor (Anna) Nein (28), Parker (Ericka) Nein (26), and Tanner Nein (22); his beloved pup, Scout, and grand-pups Quinn and Harley. He also leaves behind his ma, Kathy McDonald, and his siblings: Greg (Heidi) McDonald, Lisa (Wade) Benson, Lynette (Darin) Neuschwander, Suzanne McDonald, Gayle Jaeger, and Christy Thorns.
Chad will be deeply missed by his extended family, including his in-laws Robert and Irene Meier, Kristin (Scott) Nicholson, Ryan Meier; nieces and nephews Mitchell, Jared, Breana, Jessica, McKenzie, Alayna, Faith, Tyler, Kaylin, Grace, Jacob, Mason, and Madeline; great-nephews and niece Milo, Rhett, and Reese, Dottie, Jaeger; and special friends Brad Schaan, Brad Jacobson.
Chad was preceded in death by his favorite yellow lab, Milo; his dad, Ed McDonald; his father, Richard Nein; his sister-in-law, Janelle Meier; his grandparents Edward and Elmire Sauvageau, Floyd and Bernie Nein, Martin and Hildegard McDonald; and many aunts, uncles, and very close friends who welcomed him home.
Chad’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. His presence, laughter, and unwavering love will never be forgotten.
