ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) — House Speaker Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, has chosen Ryan Wilson as her lieutenant governor running mate for the 2026 gubernatorial race.
“I am thrilled to announce that Ryan Wilson will be joining our campaign to help me retire Tim Walz and deliver Minnesotans a state they can be proud of. It’s time for some accountability in the highest level of our government, and Ryan Wilson is the one that will help me deliver that accountability,” said Demuth, a four-term legislator and Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives.
“During Ryan’s campaign for state auditor in 2022, he sounded the alarm about fraud spiraling out of control in our state – fraud that thrived under Tim Walz’s lack of leadership in protecting Minnesotans’ hard-earned tax dollars. Minnesota tax dollars should be used to help Minnesotans, not to enrich fraudsters. Ryan ran one of the most successful Republican campaigns for statewide office in years because his commonsense message resonated with voters across Minnesota.”

Wilson, an attorney and former small business owner, said Demuth’s proven leadership during her tenure in the Minnesota legislature made it an easy decision for him to join the team.
“Lisa is a proven fighter and leader. She’s the only candidate in this race who has stood up to Walz, stared him down, and won. Minnesotans are ready to rally behind Speaker Demuth in the months ahead,” Wilson said.
The newly-formed Demuth-Wilson ticket will tour the state later this week to share their vision to fight back against wasteful government spending, root out fraud, deliver a great education for every child, and make Minnesota affordable for families and businesses.
Ryan Wilson is a lifelong Minnesotan who lives in Maple Grove with his wife and four children. He’s a former small business owner who founded a Twin Cities-based company that ran clinical trials for the medical device industry.
