MOORHEAD (KFGO) – Essentia Health is donating $1 million to the City of Moorhead for the “Loop” project. The space will be home to a new community center, library and walking trail near the red river.
“I’m so thrilled with the partnership with Essentia Health. A spirit of wellness and community is really the vibe that we want to create in the loop, in the heart of downtown Moorhead. Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson said. “You can also develop relationships and be part of the community just by simply being here.”
Essentia health says the donation reflects it’s mission to make a healthy difference in people’s lives.
“Essentia Health is thrilled to partner with the City of Moorhead and support a project that will improve the health, well-being and quality of life among people in this community.” Essentia Health West President Dr. Shelly Gefroh said.
“When they approached us and said we want to contribute a million dollars towards the walking loop and additional funds to have the Essentia River Walk. We just knew that we had really developed a great partnership with them.” Carlson said.
The 48,000 square foot project is located on Center Avenue and is expected to open next spring.
