ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO/WCCO) – A St. Paul man is facing charges of attempted 2nd degree murder after allegedly attacking a woman at a light rail station with the wooden leg of a table. 20-year old Jerrod Johnson is accused of chasing after a woman at a St. Paul rail station Tuesday.
Police say he chased the woman while trying to hold up his pants. When he caught up to the woman he swung the leg like a baseball bat, hitting her 21 times and knocking her out. The criminal complaint says the man continued hitting the woman for nearly 20 seconds after she became unconscious.
Police found her bleeding heavily from her head and face. The woman was hospitalized with a head injury and several broken bones.
Johnson is also facing charges in Hennepin County, after attacking and punching a woman near the Government Center in downtown Minneapolis. Police say Johnson did not know either of the victims.
