MOORHEAD (KFGO/KVRR) — Minnesota State Moorhead is celebrating a $5.5 million gift from the Nibbe Family Foundation.
The gift establishes the Nibbe School of Teaching, which will support continuing education, scholarships, opportunities to study abroad, and more.
Three generations of Nibbe family members have attended the university, and several became teachers. The family hopes their gift will help recruit and retain teachers for years to come.
“Teaching is such an important career, no other career can happen without teaching. And so for us to give money to the MSU programs, so that they can enhance and make better teachers, that’s what it’s all about. That’s really why our gift is here,” said Dawn Guse, President of Nibbe Family Foundation.
The university plans to begin recruiting students to the program in the coming days.
