MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. (KFGO) – A Minot school bus driver is facing a DUI charge after being arrested for allegedly driving drunk with 18 kids aboard the bus.
Court records say police were called to the south entrance of the Minot Air Force Base Aug. 20 on a report of an intoxicated school bus driver. Police say 65-year-old Tomas Podolski was slurring his speech and had poor balance when an officer arrived at the scene around 8 a.m. that day.
Podolski told the officer he had a couple drinks the night before and one that morning before his shift as a “pick me up.” The officer found a water bottle with alcohol in it inside the bus. The officer then arrested Podolski and brought him to the ward county jail where he had a .214 blood-alcohol level around an hour and a half after the initial report.
There were 18 kids on the bus. They were picked up by another bus after Podolski was reported.
