Deric Swenson
MOORHEAD (KFGO) – A longtime Moorhead police officer is no longer employed by the city.
Captain Deric Swenson has left the department following an internal investigation into complaints of misconduct.
The city says it received a recent complaint against Swenson. That followed another complaint in late 2019 for a violation of the City’s Respectful Workplace Policy.
The previous allegations, which surrounded complaints over the previous four years, said Swenson randomly made inappropriate jokes and statements, that included social media posts to employees, that made them feel uncomfortable.
Swenson was placed on paid administrative leave in late March while he was serving as Moorhead’s Acting Deputy Police Chief.
Swenson joined the police department in November of 2000.
