ST. PAUL, Minn. – A new interactive map created by the Minnesota Department of Health shows how much lead, if any, has been detected in the drinking water at schools and licensed child care centers.
Of the first 190 schools and child care centers that have reported results, no lead was detected in 76% of the cases. Health officials say it’ll take about five years before every school and child care center is shown on the map.
Public and charter schools have been reporting lead levels in drinking water since 2017, but a new law requires child care centers also test.
