Fargo Police Officer Tyler Hawes
FARGO (KFGO) โ Months after he was critically injured in an attack that changed his life and deeply impacted the Fargo area community, Officer Tyler Hawes is back on duty.
On July 14, 2023, a shooter ambushed Officers Tyle Hawes, Zachary Robinson, Andrew Dotas, and Jake Wallin during a traffic crash on 25th Street South in Fargo. Wallin was killed. Hawes, Dotas, and a woman were critically injured.
Hawes says the day he was cleared was one week shy of 18 months. He underwent 19 surgeries and countess setbacks but Hawesโs determination never wavered. From the moment he could speak in the hospital, he made one thing clear, he was coming back to serve Fargo.
โThe return of Officer Hawes is a moment of healing and resilience for our department and our entire community,โ said Chief David Zibolski. โTylerโs dedication, perseverance, and commitment to service are a testament to his character and the support system surrounding him during this difficult journey.โ
Dotas is currently in reintegration training as he prepares to return to duty soon.
