ST. PAUL, Minn. – Gov. Tim Walz is encouraging eligible Minnesotans to claim a Child Tax Credit as they file their taxes.
Walz says for the nearly 225,000 families that claimed the credit last year, “That was money for books, that was money for a new pair of boots, that was money for food. That was money to make sure the folks keep the heat on in the house for the child. Those things are really important, and that’s the type of tax policy we should be debating across this country.”
The tax credit of up to $1,750 per child is estimated to reduce child poverty by a third in Minnesota.
