DETROIT LAKES, MINN. (KFGO) – The Becker County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Detroit Lakes teen for Criminal Vehicular Operation after his car crashed into a tree on the south side of the Sunlite Bar and Grill. Authorities say the tree blocked the car from
crashing into the south side of the business.
Deputies and other emergency personnel responded to the scene located about 3 miles north of Detroit Lakes on County Road 21 around 7:30 on Saturday night
Initial investigation indicates that 18-year-old Ronald Wright was traveling north on the road when he lost control and crashed. Someone at the bar called 911 to report that a male and female, both with apparent injuries, had walked into the Sunlite, to report they were involved in a single motor vehicle crash.
Both occupants were believed to be wearing seatbelts, however, alcohol and speed may have contributed to the crash.
Wright and the 15-year-old girl were both taken to Essential-St.Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes.
Wright was later released from the hospital and booked into the Becker County Jail.
