ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The City of St. Cloud still has not been reimbursed by the Trump presidential campaign for hosting a rally in July.
Mayor Dave Kleis says they sent two invoices to the Trump campaign for $209,000, but they have not been paid. Kleis says they are now going to try billing the Secret Service to get reimbursed for public safety and other expenses.
“I just don’t know how communities can absorb that, especially cities our size or smaller. Presidential elections are not going to get any less expensive,” Kleis says.
The Trump campaign did pay St. Cloud State University $35,000 to rent the hockey arena.
