ST. PAUL – Hundreds of thousands of hunters will take part in this year’s firearms deer season that opens Saturday.
Minnesota DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen says the economic ripple will benefit communities across the state.
She says during the deer season the economic impact can visibly be seen. “When you see small communities across Minnesota flooded with hunters in their blaze orange, you see the impact that they are having in the restaurants, gas stations, and places around the communities.” Hunting generates around a billion dollars in Minnesota each year.
Strommen says Sandstone in east-central Minnesota is home to the 22nd annual Governor’s Deer Opener this weekend.
