FARGO (KFGO) – It’s called “Brown Day” to reflect the color of the uniforms worn by Cass County Sheriff’s deputies.
Sheriff Jesse Jahner says his department will have a presence around polling sites on Tuesday to ensure voters are not bothered and election workers are allowed to do their jobs without any disruptions.
“We currently have tactical operation plans set up for each of those polling sites,” he said. “I don’t want to scare any of our voters away from attending those (polls), we feel like all the sites are very safe, we don’t have any information that anything is going to happen at any of them, this is just a way for us to make sure that we’re prepared for any situation,” Jahner added.
Jahner says planning for “Brown Day” began with a tabletop exercise in March that included the county emergency manager and representatives of the county finance office which handles the election. In May, poll workers underwent de-escalation training prior to the June primary.
The sheriff’s office has jurisdiction at all polling sites in the county.
Polls in Cass County are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
