LAKE PARK, Minn. (KFGO) – A scam that the Cass County Sheriff’s Office had warned about last March has cost a Lake Park resident $400.
Police Chief Brady Burnside says the victim was kept on the phone for more than 90 minutes while she transferred the money from her bank account using “cash in” at Walmart in Dilworth.
Burnside says the caller made threats that the victim would be arrested when they questioned the caller about the authenticity of a warrant for their arrest if they didn’t follow instructions.
Burnside says during the call, the scammer transferred the call to other people who claimed to be higher in the chain of command in the sheriff’s office in Fargo.
