Fewer winter wheat bushels are expected to be harvested this fall in North Dakota.
Based on June 1 conditions, North Dakota’s 2020 winter wheat crop is forecast at 2 million bushels, down 46% from last year’s crop, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Average yield is forecast at 40 bushels per acre, down 13 bushels from last year.
Acreage to be harvested for grain is estimated at 50,000 acres, down 20,000 acres from last year.
2019 corn for grain production in North Dakota, based on the May re-contact survey, is estimated at 410 million bushels, down 9% from 2018. Yield of 131 bushels per acre is down 22
bushels from 2018. Farmers harvested 3.13 million acres of corn for grain, up 7% from 2018.
2019 soybean production in the state, based on the May re-contact survey, is estimated at 170 million bushels, down 29% from last year. Yield of 31.5 bushels per acre is down 3.5 bushels
