American Red Cross volunteers from Minnesota and the Dakotas are part of the emergency response to the hurricane in the southeastern US. Disaster Services Officer Heather Barnes Carbajal says they will be doing a variety of work.
“We have people who are going to be working in shelters, making sure that people have a safe place to go. That they have somebody to talk to. We have people going to be feeding. So they’ll be driving our Emergency Response Vehicle in the community.”
She says they will be providing meals, water and other supplies, and coordinating local relief efforts.
People in the area can help the hurricane relief effort by donating blood and money to the American Red Cross.
