FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) – The city of Fargo started clearing illegal homeless camps Wednesday under its new camping ordinance.
The city passed the ordinance 3-to-2 making it illegal to camp on public property. While some traces of clothes and garbage were still laid out, the tents moved.
One person says the city started telling everyone to move on Tuesday, but he still had not. The man, who is Native American, disagrees with the city’s new ordinance saying the land is native land where his ancestors lived and bled.”
The Fargo City Commission passed a camping ban two weeks ago and limits the places where homeless people can stay along certain infrastructure.
