WASHINGTON – A bill sponsored by Minnesota congressmen Brad Finstad and Dean Phillips aims to address staffing shortages in state and local law enforcement agencies.
Finstad says there’s a big concern about shortages in the pipeline for people interested in law enforcement. He says it comes up in conversations he’s had with the Brown and Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Offices and the Rochester Police Department.
The Pathways to Policing Act would authorize funds for the Department of Justice to operate programs focused on strengthening the pipeline of candidates interested in pursuing law enforcement careers.
