DICKINSON, N.D. (KFGO) – A four-hour standoff between an armed, barricaded man and Dickinson Police ended safely with the arrest of a 29-year-old Dickinson man on several charges.
Police said Thursday afternoon, in downtown Dickinson, Danial Aaron Valenzuela stole a gun from a sporting goods store and fled on foot. Officers tracked him down to a home near the Stark County Courthouse where he barricaded himself inside and threatened authorities if they attempted to enter. While attempting to negotiate with Valenzuela, he fired multiple rounds at officers but no one was injured.
He surrendered after officers tossed tear gas into the house.
Valenzuela is facing charges of robbery, reckless endangerment, and felon in possession of a firearm. Police say additional charges are possible.
