Volunteer Opportunities
Red River Water Festival
The Red River Water Festival is September 16-20, 23-24 at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead (16th being just set up). Classrooms will rotate through interactive activities to learn about water.
What is a Water Festival? A water festival is an educational, fun-filled hands-on learning opportunity for 4th grade classrooms, which will increase a student’s awareness and knowledge of water. A variety of topics such as watersheds, water treatment, water properties, and the water cycle will be presented in an interactive format. You can choose a section of Drain 27 in South Fargo or one of the many stretches along the Red River in Fargo/Moorhead. Let us know a day, timeframe, estimated number of volunteers, and a location preference to get a cleanup scheduled. Supplies are provided.

T-shirt Tote Project
Significant progress has been made over the past few months in transforming T-shirts into totes. This project was started to reduce the number of plastic bags found in or near the Red River. Totes are distributed for free and are used for outreach and education at local community events and stores.
We have a few more boxes of finished totes that need to have our “Upcycled by River Keepers” labels ironed on to them. Schedule time to come into our office or do if you own an iron, you can take home supplies to work on.
Let us know if you would like to volunteer through our SignUpGenius form (T-shirt to Tote Project) or contact Kim directly at Kimberly@riverkeepers.org or 701-356-8915.
