FARGO (KFGO) – A lockdown was lifted after about three hours at Fargo South High School and students and staff were dismissed.
The school district says after a thorough investigation, it was determined that there was no threat to the school, students or staff.
Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, a phone call was received by the school office. The caller indicated they had placed bombs around and in the school. Based on the information the caller was sharing, the threat was deemed not to be credible and most likely a “swatting” call. Swatting is when someone reports a fake emergency to prompt a large police response.
School administration worked with police to thoroughly search the school and parking lot and the lockdown was lifted.
It was the first day of classes in the district which reported enrollment of 11,402, an increase of 24 students last year.
