FARGO (KFGO) – Court records say a man arrested by Fargo Police for tampering with infrastructure may have caused thousands of dollars of damage to internet and cable lines in Fargo.
Timothy Windels, 36, is accused of cutting Midco lines at seven different locations around the city, causing significant outages to residential and business customers. Some businesses affected were Community Family Market, Rodeway Inn, Northwest Pipe Fittings, and Larson Welding and Machine Company.
An officer says Windels was also seen tampering with an electrical box at the Federal Courthouse in north Fargo.
Court records say Windels used an angle grinder to cut the cables.
Windels’ mother told investigators he has a history of mental health and drug issues, and is fixated on wires because he believes the government is using them to track him.
Windels was arrested Friday and had an angle grinder with him. He is charged with four counts of tampering with or damaging a public service.
