FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) – Bail was set for a man with no permanent address who is charged with six felony counts including attempted murder after a stabbing incident Sunday in downtown Fargo.
Court documents reveal that 35-year-old Michael Hurteau told investigators that he woke up after drinking all day and felt people across the street were saying nasty things about him.
He punched one man and cut his face with a knife before he stabbed a woman in the back four times, puncturing a lung.
She ran into Spicy Pie for shelter and to get help.
Hurteau then threw the knife at another woman causing a red mark on her chest.
Fargo Police say the woman had volunteered at the Pride Parade but they have no reason to believe that was a motive for the knife being thrown at her.
He was arrested for two counts of attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, and a count of terrorizing with a weapon. Bail is set at $500,000.
His next court date is set for September 25.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
