ST. PAUL, Minn. – Speculation in Minnesota and nationwide continues swirling as the three apparent finalists for the vice presidental spot on the Democrats’ ticket, Governor Tim Walz, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly wait for Vice President Kamala Harris’s decision before next week’s battleground state tour begins Tuesday evening.
Walz repeatedly stressed Thursday that it’s Harris’s choice of who is best, that he’s “not interviewing for anything,” and joked that he watched commentary on his chances while exercising.
He said, “I don’t know if every high school geography teacher expects to be in this position at some point, but it is very strange to be running on my treadmill and have people talking about the things that are there and scream back, this guy is too old. I’m running my butt off here on the treadmill. So, no…”
Harris’s battleground state tour kicks off in Philadelphia, fueling speculation that Shapiro could be her choice, but stop number 2 is at Eau Claire, Wisconsin, near the Twin Cities media market, sparking predictions that Walz could be the one.
