PEMBINA COUNTY, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported a fatal motorcycle crash Friday night at 11 for a motorcycle that was northbound on County Road 4, approximately 1⁄4 of a mile south of County Road 1, when a deer ran out of the ditch and onto the roadway.
The rider struck the deer which caused the passenger, a 43-year-old woman from Hamilton, N.D. to be thrown from the motorcycle. The rider, a 43-year-old Cavalier man, entered the east ditch and became trapped underneath the motorcycle upon final rest. The rider suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier. The passenger died on-scene as a result of her injuries.
The names of the individuals involved will be released at a later date and time.
Charges pending include Driving Under Revocation and Driving Without Liability Insurance. Neither rider or passenger were wearing a helmet.
