FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) — With West Nile virus detected in Grand Forks and North Dakota’s first human case of the virus found in Morton County, cities and towns around the region are working to control mosquitos.
In Cass County, Vector Control director Ben Prather says they’ve seen one of the largest mosquito trap counts in years.
“The good news is that when we’re spraying, we’re actually controlling both disease carrying mosquitoes and the regular pesky nuisance ones. So, those numbers should go down,” Prather says.
Cass County Vector Control plans on aerial spraying of Fargo and West Fargo Thursday night. Moorhead, Grand Forks, and East Grand Forks sprayed Tuesday night and Moorhead will be out again Wednesday night.
Officials say the spray is safe for people and pets.
