FARGO (KFGO) – Charges have been filed against a Fargo man accused of an alcohol-related, hit-and-run crash that left two people with serious injuries in south Fargo Saturday afternoon.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Nicholas Tschosik was arrested after officers responded to a hospital where he was being treated for an eye injury.
Witnesses told officers they saw a car going up to 90 miles an hour on 36th Street south of 32nd Avenue S. before crossing the centerline and crashing head-on into a vehicle with five people inside. They said the driver of the speeding car got into another vehicle and left.
Fargo Police said the driver of the other vehicle was not involved in the incident. The other driver offered Tschosik a ride to the emergency room after seeing his injuries, and did not know he was fleeing the scene.
Officers determined the car was Tschosik’s. It had empty alcohol bottles and Tschosik’s cell phone inside.
Three people in the other car suffered minor injuries. Court records show one person suffered a possible broken sternum, spine, and collapsed lung. Another suffered a possible broken knee.
An officer said Tschosik smelled like alcohol, failed a field sobriety test, and refused a chemical test at the hospital. He also said he wasn’t driving the car.
Tschosik has been charged with DUI, DUI test refusal, two counts of leaving the scene of an injury accident, reckless driving, and driving under suspension.
Tschosik was arrested earlier this year and pleaded guilty to a DUI charge. He was given unsupervised probation, ordered to attend a victim impact panel, and obtain a chemical dependency evaluation.
In February, Tschosik pleaded guilty to an October 2023 reckless driving charge.
Unsupervised probation for a DUI. When he kills someone next, call the prosecutor….
