GRAND RAPIDS, MINN. – Prospective cannabis operators in Minnesota are excited about the opportunity to get a state license and begin planting later this year.
John Hyduke of the HWY 35 manufacturing facility in Grand Rapids says “social equity” growers will provide the first cannabis to the retailers. He says as far as the consumer is concerned, they’ll be product in 2025. It’s just a matter of how much.
He says he believes the dispensaries will open next year. His best guess is sometime in mid-2025 to the third quarter but he is hoping it’s sometime earlier.
Social equity applicants will receive pre-approval for early cultivation this summer. They are applicants with previous non-violent marijuana convictions and all military veterans.
Hyduke says they will need up to 400 workers to operate the plant with a 60-thousand-foot cannabis canopy.
