District 1 – Baudette area

CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked anglers on the Roseau River, Lake of the Woods, and the Roseau River Pools. ATV safety checks were done throughout Roseau County. Violations for the week include operating ATV with juvenile passengers without a helmet, without seatbelt, operating ATV without ATV Safety, and insufficient life saving devices on watercraft.
CO Tony Hams (Warroad North) spent the week checking area anglers, assisted with a field trip to the Warroad School Forest, attended an annual stakeholder meeting at the NW Angle, assisted with an AIS check station, and fielded various complaints. Violation encountered were no license in possession, no throwable, and possessing fish in an uncountable state.
CO Coby Fontes (Warroad South) spent the week patrolling several areas of Lake of the Woods, specifically the NW Angle, and handling nuisance animal complaints. Enforcement action was taken for taking fish without an angling license, lack of proper watercraft safety equipment, and operating an unregistered boat.
CO Nicholas Prachar (Baudette West) reports increased ATV and boating activity. Time was spent patrolling for both as well as angling activity. Enforcement action was taken for failure to display ATV registration and littering.
CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls West) assisted with an Aquatic Invasive Species Checkpoint, attended an invasive species seminar, responded to nuisance bear complaints, and patrolled the Thief River Falls area. Enforcement action for the week included insufficient PFD?s, angle without license in possession, and transport watercraft with drain plug intact.
CO Sarah Jahn (Thief River Falls East) spent time working angling and ATV enforcement. Time was also spent giving a laws and ethics talk at a trappers? education class in Thief River Falls. A Wetland Conservation Act case was also worked on. As ATV activity becomes more common with the nice weather, a reminder is given to turn on head lights and anyone under the age of 18 needs a helmet. In the course of two days, five, class two ATVs were stopped for failing to have helmets on minors as young as two months old!
CO Nick Bruesewitz (Karlstad) spent the week checking area anglers. Fishing has been slower with the increased rainfall. Time was spent working ATV activity with multiple violations encountered and addressed. CO Bruesewitz responded to various wildlife complains as well throughout the week. Violations encountered were failure to display registration, operating an ATV without lights, and juvenile passengers without helmets.
CO Brice Vollbrecht (Blackduck North) spent time working Upper Red Lake. The walleye bite has improved throughout the week. Officer followed up on a complaint of hunter harassment and had the district intern ride with for a day.

District 2 – Bemidji area

CO Tom Hutchins (Crookston) reports working an AIS check station in the Baudette area. Time was also spent addressing various wildlife related complaints. Anglers and watercraft operators were checked throughout the week.
CO Andrew Goodman (Perham) continued to work boating safety and angling enforcement throughout the week. Many area lakes and rivers have returned closer to normal water levels that haven?t been seen in the last three years. Additional time was spend working an AIS detail near Baudette and investigating hydro jet-related complaints.
CO Jake Swedberg (Detroit Lakes) focused on sport fishing and boating related enforcement during the week. CO Swedberg also worked on a deer investigation with North Dakota Game and Fish and followed up on a burning violation from earlier in the month.
CO Jordan Anderson (Osage) continues to see an increase in activity on the lakes and trails with most violations for the week being related to ATV operation. Enforcement action was taken for several ATV violations including youth helmet violations, illegal operation on roadways, and registration as well as unpermitted weed roller devices.
CO Angie Warren (Mahnomen) spent time on angling and boating activity. AIS compliance checks were performed. Training on invasive species was attended and a meeting with Tamarac Refuge staff were attended. Officer Warren patrolled for ATVs and ORVs. Public accesses, WMAs, and WPAs were worked for activity.
CO Brady Manteufel (Bagley) patrolled for the final days of turkey season and followed up on a TIP call. ATV enforcement was conducted, youth under fifteen operating Class II ATVs with no helmets was addressed. Calls on bears and wolves were handled, and angling and boat checks were conducted. Manteufel also participated in a region work detail.
CO Jamus Veit (Bemidji #2) spent the week patrolling for ATV, boating, and angling activity. Investigated a gray wolf depredation complaint and addressed bear related complaints. Training was conducted with DNR intern and Itasca Park Rangers.

District 3 – Fergus Falls area

CO Hanna Wood (Fergus Falls) assisted at Camp Ripley for firearms week at the CO Academy. She also had an ATV safety class over the weekend.
CO Tricia Plautz (Henning) worked a busy Memorial Day on the water. She also followed up on a TIP call and nuisance-animal complaints. AIS enforcement work and ATV activity were monitored.
Co Ryan Brown (Elbow Lake) concentrated his enforcement efforts on boating and angling activities throughout the week. Time was also spent presenting at two ATV safety classes and responding to wildlife-related complaints. Brown wants to remind anglers to know the limits and size restrictions on fish before deciding to keep them.
CO Shane Osborne (Evansville) checked anglers, boaters, and ATV riders. Investigations from the busy Memorial Day weekend were conducted, with more follow up needed. ATV owners are reminded that you are responsible for allowing the illegal operation of ATVs by juveniles, including anyone under 18 not wearing a helmet as a driver or passenger, operating on state or county highways when not allowed, and operating without a driver?s license or ATV safety certificate.
CO Jake Homan (Alexandria) spent the week patrolling Douglas County. Time was spent checking anglers and people recreating on area lakes. Homan also assisted with an ATV class in a neighboring station.
CO Felicia Znajda (Osakis) focused her time this past week on heavy angling activity, with a variety of violations encountered. She is happy to report most young juveniles are staying safe and wearing their life jackets on watercrafts. She assisted with an ATV safety class in Fergus Falls. She also served with an Honor Guard detail at the Hennepin County Medical Examiner?s Office, guarding fallen Minneapolis Police Department Officer Jamal Mitchell.
CO Emily Douvier (Morris) spent time checking the area for anglers, returning calls, and following up on various complaints. Enforcement action was taken for fishing without a fishing license.
CO Daniel Baumbarger (Glenwood) reports enforcement efforts for the week were concentrated on checking anglers, boaters, and ATV operators. Additional time was spent fielding orphaned-animal calls and taking several reports of a bear sighting.

District 4 – Walker area

CO Michael Cross (Lake George) reports angling, boating, and off highway vehicle patrol. The bite has remained good for most anglers with many having plenty for a fish fry throughout the week. Enforcement action was taken for boating, angling, and ATV violations.
CO Corey Sura (Remer) followed up on work from the holiday weekend, updated cases, and attended meetings. A public waters complaint regarding a hydro jet destroying lake bottom vegetation was taken.
CO Landyn Saewert (Wadena) spent the week focusing on ATV enforcement. A call of a goose with an arrow stuck in it was taken. The goose was located but had flown away when approached. CO Nick Baum (Park Rapids) patrolled the area for ATV and Boating activity. CO Baum assisted Hubbard and Becker County with a two-vehicle crash. CO Baum noticed with warming water temperature that recreational boating traffic has increased. CO Baum wants to remind Boaters to double check safety equipment before heading out on the water. CO Baum took enforcement action on various ATV and Boating violations.
CO Adam Seifermann (Staples) Reports attending an event at an elementary school with CO Thesing and K9 Jet where students learned about invasive species and how K9?s are trained to detect zebra mussels. Seifermann and K9 Jet also spent time this week searching watercraft and trailers for zebra mussels in northern Minnesota.
CO Patrick McGowan (Walker) patrolled Cass and Crow Wing Co lakes throughout the week. CO McGowan also attending meetings for the CO academy at Camp Ripley. Enforcement action was taken for numerous boating and fishing enforcement.
