Diane Marie Hoag, 68, of West Fargo, ND, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026, at Essentia Health surrounded by family and friends.
Diane was born April 9, 1958, in Moorhead, MN, to Morris and Lillian (Julsrud) Axness. She was the second born in a set of unexpected twins, and always reminded people she was 8 minutes younger. She grew up and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1976. After her schooling, Diane’s first career began at St. Luke’s Hospital (now Sanford) in Fargo. In June of 1990, the Roger Maris Cancer Center opened its doors, where she worked tirelessly and passionately until 1999, when her second career at Noridian Healthcare Solutions began. She worked at Noridian until the time of her passing.
On Friday February 13, 1987, her favorite son, Brandon, was born and her life changed forever. You can decide if that date is lucky or not. Even outside of work, Diane was never one to sit still. She enjoyed baking, sewing, her flower and vegetable gardens, bargain shopping and spending time with her many friends, wine and Hallmark movie marathons, salsa making parties, the annual Trollwood Musical, going completely overboard for the Christmas season (though she would argue that it wasn’t enough), and bubble baths in her giant tub.
She is survived by her son, Brandon, of West Fargo; her sister, Beverly Mahmood, of Rothsay, MN; her brother, Mark Axness, of Barnesville, MN; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and twin sister, Donna.
Visitation for Diane will be Friday, May 8, 2026, from 5pm-7pm in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service of Moorhead, MN. Her funeral service will be Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11am in North Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior.
Arrangements entrusted to Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service of Moorhead, MN
