ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – KFGO has captured 10 Eric Sevareid Awards for broadcast excellence from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association (MBJA).
The station won in several categories including Breaking news, Sports, Weather, Talk-Public Affairs, and Podcast.
Honored programs and personalities included It Takes 2 with Amy Iler and J.J. Gordon, News & Views with Joel Heitkamp, Chief Meteorologist Tom Szymanski, Jack Michaels sports play-by-play, and The Golf Show with host Jeff Kolpack on 740 The FAN.
KFGO and The FAN were the only North Dakota radio stations to be honored by MBJA. The awards were presented Saturday night at the association’s annual conference in St. Paul.
MBJA honors radio, TV stations and online organizations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska. Sevareid was a North Dakota native and University of Minnesota graduate who was best known as a correspondent for CBS Radio and CBS Television.
KFGO, The Mighty 790 AM, is also heard on 104.7 FM.
