MOUNTAIN IRON, Minn. – Authorities on the Iron Range say a boy playing with a lighter caused a weekend house fire in Mountain Iron.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire late Friday night and learned all the occupants were accounted for. Deputies spoke with the homeowners and determined the fire was started by a 10-year-old boy with a lighter and aerosol can.
One of the homeowners was treated for smoke inhalation.
Officials say the house is believed to be a total loss.
